Many moons ago, I ventured to one of my favorite happy places to celebrate my birthday. Twas a solo retreat meant to enable me to enjoy some sand, surf, and solitude as I began a new trip around the sun.
After several years of not doing so, this year I resurrected this activity. Last Thursday, also known as The Best Day of My Year, I ventured to one of my favorite beaches and spent several glorious days there all by myself.
Happy birthday to me!

I’m a musical gal, from my wee days taking piano and drum lessons, to my current stint in a community choir. To me, listening to music is what going to church is for some, so I celebrate with Sunday Song.

There are a million scenes like this in southeastern Pennsylvania. I’ve driven past this one a million times and, every time, I’d say, “I need to stop and take some pictures for Thursday Doors.” And I did (finally). Continue reading “Thursday Doors: (Parenthetical)”
If I controlled the world, there would be more of this door. EVERYWHERE. In an extroverted (loud) world, one (introvert) needs as much quiet as one can get. Continue reading “A Magical Mystery Door”
I open and close this door just about every day, often several times each day. It’s the door to the mundane every day, but also to freedom, to new adventures. Continue reading “Driving Ms. Doors-y”

I’m coming out of a fog into a haze of snow. I’m psychologically and emotionally spent, and I’m merely adjacent to the turmoil around me. That’s not 100 percent true — I knew her, too — not deeply, but enough to be disturbed by the news, let alone the aftermath of the little bit that has fallen to me to deal with. Four days ago, my boss’s wife died unexpectedly. The door on her life is closed. Continue reading “Thursday Doors: Closed”
I sing, alone, every single day. Music is truly the background of my life. When I’m not singing, I’m speaking in song lyrics (or movie quotes). So why not sing with a group?

A year ago, at this very moment, I could still say I had never broken a bone. By 7 p.m. or so that same night, I could no longer say the same.

It’s Thursday! It’s time to share some doors! What did I capture this week? Let’s find out.
