Friday Fhoughts: Folume Nine

Friday Fhoughts - BlackThis Friday is weird. Four-day work weeks make me think Friday is Fhursday. I thank all things holy that it’s not. I’z not helped this week by also having an extra choir rehearsal thereby making me think a week has gone by since the last one, but not so!

These struggles will not keep me from loving four-day work weeks or extra choir rehearsals, however. I’ll gladly suffer Day Disorientation for both.

Knowing it’s the day that it is, let’s begin FRIDAY FHOUGHTS, FOLUME NINE!

If for some reason I forget what day it is, I’ll just be glad it’s not Wednesday evening anymore. After work, I planned on just driving home, but I almost had to swim. Would thou hast better luck staying in place — and building an ark — before heading out? I doth think so. The torrential downpours to end all downpours happened. Wires and trees came down. Drivers went full-on Complete Idiot. Roads flooded creating hazardous conditions, especially when big trucks passed and splashed me with The Perfect Storm-sizes ‘waves.’ The entire way I contemplated pulling over and waiting it out, but I wasn’t that far from home. That’s what every idiot who gets rescued from a flash flood thinks, you moron. You better hope you don’t become footage on the evening news. Alas, I went the way that I knew was not downstream and all worked out well. My shoes got soaked, though, walking extremely short distances to/from my car. They’re dry today, but now my feet squeak.

I was certain Tuesday was Tuesday because it was the day after my long weekend and I was sad. Over said weekend, I finished the entire second season of HBO’s Barry (Ah.Maz.Ing). Mostly, I did nothing and it was fun!

Also fun, trying to grow things. Every time I see Ivy (see photo), I tell her to GROW! I think it’s working.

Also also fun, grocery shopping! I stopped after choir rehearsal meaning that twas late and almost no one was in the store. I sing! I cart dance! AND! I bargain shop, especially since ALL THE SNACKS were on sale! I’m good for, like, years. My current snack faves: Mini Nilla Wafers with fresh strawberries and Cracker Barrel string cheese

— White Cheddar — with Sociables crackers and grapes. Delish!

… … … …

Stopped to enjoy a mini can of Pringles. Sorry I didn’t share — just enough for one! And indeed, once I popped, I couldn’t stop!

I also can’t stop singing. We haz a show coming up soon and I’m preparing by singing NON-STOP. (Of course, if you knew me IRL, you’d say, “That’s not new(s). You’re ALWAYS singing.” True! Speaking of choir/singing, here’s a recent find, a choir 1,999 voices strong in Toronto (pronounced To-RON-no) singing a work by that purple wonder, Prince.

May your feet never get wet in a rainstorm. May you always know what day it is. May the snacks and songs always be plentiful. And may we get to a day when we never have to hear doves cry.

Happy, peaceful weekend, people.

On Fridays, I have fhoughts. And that’s how Friday Fhoughts was born. A cross between two series I used to have (Random Thoughts Thursday and DSF Weekly Rewind), Friday Fhoughts is a smattering of random thoughts, connected in some way or not, with photos, music, and more. Read my Friday Fhoughts posts here.

  1. Happy Friday, Tara!

I think you are a closet Canadian 😉 This was a fabulous rendition of “When Doves Cry” at Massey Hall.

Squeaky shoes are the worstest! Hope the sun shines for you this weekend.

    1. Happy Friday!

I think so, too. I loves me some Colin Mochrie (Canadian by way of Scotland) and k.d. lang and Jane Siberry and many more. PLUS! I’m a big fan of saying things properly. If Mr. Affleck was instructing the hostages correctly in Argo, then Canadians don’t say that last T in Toronto so… there ya go. I want to be a Qubecian (which I’m not sure y’all actually say) since I love French so much.

I’m starting to make little songs with my squeaky shoes, so … bright side!

Thanks re: the sun shine. YOU, TOO!

      1. Thanks!

He is hilarious, for shizzle, she rocks and countries, and torch songs (kd) and Siberry does a damn fine job too. There are some who pronounce the T but it always sounds like they are trying too hard 😉 Quebecian will never fly but you are more than welcome to become a Quebecer (or Quebecker).

Ha ha! Are they in tune?

It is shining today and I am moving most of my shtuff today so. yay!

        1. Quebecer. Okee dokee. I’ll be that.

Hmmmm. The shoes only really play the one note, but yeah, it’s the same all the time, so I’ll say yes, they’re in tune!

YAY for sun shining whilst moving! Hope that continues!

Ya know, that’s interesting — I always wanted to try tap dancing. 🙂

YES! Sunshine, do you hear me? You must stick around through Saturday, nkay? (hope that works!)

  2. T Siz,

Nothing days are such great days. My idea of heaven is where you get to pick what you do with a day, and you have like, forever with which to do it. I’d definitely clear about a thousand years to stay in my jams and watch TV.

I had to pick my daughter up from BWI last week and ran straight into a storm that would’ve had Noah saying “We need a bigger boat!”. At night. Yikes.

Your snack selection is spot on deliciosa!

And that clip of Veep with the squeaky heels is hilarious!

    1. Earnest,

My sincerest apologies for not responding sooner. I was laying the groundwork for your heaven idea by spending time with the ocean, seeing if she’d agree to it, for me. She did. By the way, she waves hello.

Your idea of heaven is a good one, too. Perhaps we could rotate awesome options every now and then?

We were perhaps driving through the same JAWS-like system. I was about ready to start rowing, figuring I’d get home faster. Twas scary stuff Glad you and the Girl Child made it safely.

Thank you. Expect similar hospitality served should you be in my presence in a place that demands I bring the snacks.

      I know, right? Squeakkkkkkkkkkkk!

      1. The ocean waves hello? So she’s okay with me, because she’s tried drowning me a couple of times. I mean, I still love her and all . . but I thought she was done with me. Coo!

Oh, I think that would be fun.

Me too. It was scary with zero visibility for a while there.

        Yaya!

I watched it a couple times, more hilarious every time.

  3. The ocean didn’t try to drown you! Some awful sea creature caused some upheaval in ocean and that’s what did it. (Not a paid spokesperson for ocean.)

True. That Veep is a funny lil’ show. 🙂
