Thursday Doors: A Magical Mystery Door

If I controlled the world, there would be more of this door. EVERYWHERE. In an extroverted (loud) world, one (introvert) needs as much quiet as one can get.

This door is door-adjacent to the last door I featured, that of my car, Blue Tootie. It’s because of Blue Tootie that I saw this door again, after a bit of time when I didn’t.

Several cars ago, I went to this dealer all the time to have my oil changed. Their waiting room is large, comfortable, with, like, five TVs, a separate and enclosed play room for screaming kids. It’s a glorious place to sit and wait whilst your car is at the car hopsical (how Ms. Angelica Pickles says hospital and, since the late 90s, how I say it, too), especially nice since getting the car’s oil changed is one of my least-liked adulting chores.

The decor is a bit funky, but how does one decorate the inside of a car dealer service place? Let’s lounge for a bit and contemplate that.

If we get tired of lounging and being out with The People, there’s an oasis we can escape to: THE QUIET ROOM. The sign outside says, “No cell phones. No talking.” I LOVE THIS ROOM. Every place on earth should have a similar room! I love this room so much that, even though I don’t have the brand car this dealer sells, I still go there to get Blue Tootie’s oil changed (when I don’t feel like wasting an entire Saturday because my dealer’s service department apparently keeps banker’s hours during the week). They work on all makes and models, AND they offer a QUIET ROOM. … Why would I go anywhere else?

Come with me through the door to this magical place: THE QUIET ROOM.

I know you can’t see the door because it’s open, but it won’t be once we get inside. We can close it and keep all of The People out!

If only there was one where I am now… … …

This post is one of many through Thursday Doors by Norm Frampton. See other doors — from around the world — on his weekly linkup and/or on the Twitter at #ThursdayDoors. See more of my doors here.

Well, if it’s just people who know each other in the room, I suppose wee talking/whispering occasionally would be OK. 🙂

Rule breaker! (I’m a fan of that myself… sometimes.)
