As the great musical poet Kiki Dee once said, “I’ve got the music in me.” Seriously, music is part of my daily life, so I participate in Song Lyric Sunday. This week’s theme is last.
As I mentioned last week, I love amazing voices and I love the 80s. This week’s choice combines both of those things, but with a twist — the song from the 80s is shown/heard as performed in the 21st century.
The song’s message still resonates even though it was recorded in 1986. The fact that a true original is singing it helps the message have even more punch. That helped me, a weird kid by my own estimation, feel pretty good about myself back in the day. Isn’t it amazing — the power of music?
For your viewing/listening pleasure, I happily present the still-meaningful message of True Colors and amazing and powerful voice of Cyndi Lauper singing her 1986 hit live in 2009.
Show me a smile then don’t be unhappy
Can’t remember when I last saw you laughing…
