Song Lyric Sunday: Soul

As the great musical poet Kiki Dee once said, “I’ve got the music in me.” Seriously, music is part of my daily life, so I participate in Song Lyric Sunday. This week’s theme is soul.

I thought of several songs that fit this week’s theme. In the end, I chose… the one I chose.

Disclaimer: I know. It’s too early — Thanksgiving hasn’t even come and gone. I can’t help myself, however. In my choir, we’re practicing for a concert including *whispers* Christmas songs. We have been for more than a month now. I’m constantly practicing my harmonizing, and this definitely helps with that. So when I found this version of this *whispers* Christmas song, I had to use it.

It’s cold here on the east coast, so the fire flickering is a welcome sight. And I say the soothing tones of Pentatonix are a lovely addition to any Sunday morning. I’m not into the literal meaning the story the song is telling, but I so appreciate the beauty of the tune. These five voices making such beautiful noise together are truly divine…

P.S. *whispers* I’m almost done my Christmas shopping, too. Tee hee.

… and the soul felt its worth …

  1. For some it’s never too early for Christmas songs 🙂 Pentatonix is such a talented group, I really enjoy their music, thanks for sharing! My all-time favorite version of this song was sung by Martina McBride back in the 90’s, still gives me chills.
