Song Lyric Sunday: Game

As the great musical poet Kiki Dee once said, “I’ve got the music in me.” Seriously, music is part of my daily life, so I participate in Song Lyric Sunday. This week’s theme is game.

Hop in my wayback machine and come with me to the 80s. This song features the word game, talks about playing cards, AND is about the greatest and most complicated game: love.

Enjoy the ska/reggae beat. Enjoy the synthesizer. Enjoy all the fun facets of this tune from what was my favorite band as a wee teen, The Hooters. It’s Hanging on a Heartbeat.

(Live version from 2015 and original 1983 album version vids below. Enjoy just how much like the album the live version sounds, i.e., they actually play their instruments and sing live and sound just like the do on the album!)

  1. That is one of my biggest pet peeves – when bands/singers sound awful live but somehow, miraculously, they are lovely on their album. I’m pretty much done with them forever. I did enjoy this song. Thanks so much for sharing!
