The only thing not hidden away in the back of my closet in my Boy Box is the CD that you made for me. Every now and then, I pull it out of the book of CDs where it lives and press play on track number nine.
Music permeated our relationship more than any other. I can’t think of a song that others and I share equally. There are plenty that I loved, that I favored, for one boy or another. But this one, this belonged to both of us, and it makes me think of you and I every time.
No specific memory, just your name attached to the tune as if it’s part of the makeup of the music or the lyrics, as if it’s part of the song that wouldn’t be the same without it.
Just so you know, I don’t press play because of you. I listen because it’s a good tune. So, thanks, I guess. At least you gave me that.
This post is part of the Blogging A to Z Challenge. My theme is Musical Memoir. Each Monday through Saturday, I explore personal memories through my love of music, inspired and coordinated by the letters of the alphabet. Join in the fun and participate in the challenge, or leave a comment and enjoy some conversation. Thanks for reading. Peace.
I’ve never heard this before, but I like it now that I hear it. I’m woefully under-educated about music. Your A To Z Challenge theme is good for me.

There’s always a song, isn’t there?
And this one, it’s a classic.
