Some weeks (on Mondays or Tuesdays), I shall participate in Share Your World, a weekly blog challenge some of the cool kids I know take part in. There’s no Movie Monday this week so I shall do it today!
If you could hire someone to help you, would it be with cleaning, cooking, or yard work?
I was going to say cooking, but then I pictured a chef making things with ingredients I wouldn’t want. I’m a simple gal who often finds the things on the kids’ menu more enjoyable than the adult one. Imported ham with asiago cheese and a mango chutney? No, how about just ham and American cheese on a Kaiser roll with some mustard. Simple. So I’ll pick yard work. I like to look at pretty flowers, but I don’t like dirt and worms and other creepy crawly things. Landscapers to the rescue!
If you were to move and your home came fully furnished with everything you ever wanted, list at least three things from your old house you wish to retain?
- Thumb drives with all of my writing and photos on them (I back up. You should back up. BACK UP EVERYTHING! NOW!)
- The Cabbage Patch Doll I’ve had forever that my father stood out in the snow to get for me (they were very popular at the time). I didn’t know it then, but that set the bar for future romantic interests — are you willing to stand out in the snow to make me smile? It’s also a reminder of what he would do to surprise me and also — by product — make me a happy kid.
- My books, especially the well-worn ones I’ve had since I was young, like The Outsiders. I can’t leave my friends behind now, can I?
What calms you down?
Music. The sound of the ocean. Remembering to stay in the moment. Asking myself, “Will this matter in a day, a week, a year or more?”
What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.
An out-of-the-blue compliment by someone that just blew me away. I just do what I do and putter along. It was a reminder that you really don’t know who you’re affecting and how sometimes. And twas also quite the smile-maker. 🙂 <—artist rendering
