As the great musical poet Kiki Dee once said, “I’ve got the music in me.”
Seriously, though, music is part of my daily life. I sing every day. I’m always listening and/or dancing to something. So when I found Song Lyric Sunday, I just had to participate!
This week’s theme is pretending.
I struggled a bit with this one. The jukebox in my brain went round and round until finally… it landed back in the 80s. I heard the voice of one of the most powerful female vocalists of all time. I remembered a great rock song, about two pretenders:
What About Love by Heart.
What About Love
Heart
I’ve been lonely
I’ve been waiting for you
I’m pretending and that’s all I can do
The love I’m sending
Ain’t making it through to your heart
You’ve been hiding, never letting it show
Always trying to keep it under control
You got it down and you’re well
On the way to the top
But there’s something that you forgot
What about love
Don’t you want someone to care about you
What about love
Don’t let it slip away
What about love
I only want to share it with you
You might need it someday
I can’t tell you what you’re feeling inside
I can’t sell you what you don’t want to buy
Something’s missing and you got to
Look back on your life
You know something here just ain’t right
What about love
Don’t you want someone to care about you
What about love
Don’t let it slip away
What about love
I only want to share it with you
What about love
Don’t you want someone to care about you
What about love
Don’t let it slip away
What about love
I only want to share it with you

Great song choice Tara! I realised just a couple years ago that every morning when I awoke, there was a song in my head! I started to keep a daily log of the song to see if I could discern any sort of pattern or theme…. then the log fell under the bed, and the dust bunnnies are bigger than my pillow, so I am afraid to try to dig it out… 😉

Thanks! And Ha! You could take those bunnies, I’m sure. Ya know, I wake up with a song in my head every day, too (almost every day). I should log mine and see what comes up.
What song was in your head today?

Last three mornings of Songs in my Head. The 21st – Windy City by Alison Krauss. The 20th – Aspenglow by John Denver. The 19th – I Make the Static by Joy Villa. Good luck making sense of that or finding a pattern! 🙂

Hmmm. I think more data would be needed to find the pattern. But I love Alison Krauss and John Denver. I know not of Joy Villa. I will google.

You’re welcome. Struggling with this week’s theme, though. My brain is fried from all this holidaying. 🙂

I was going to, then I hit a wall yesterday. Now, I’m introverting. Too much unnecessary drama ’round these parts. 🙂

That’s the worst! Well, I hope things get better and that you have a merry Christmas.
