Daisy Smiley Face

It's my happy place.

Welcome to my #DSFWeeklyRewind post this week! I hope you’ll join in the fun! #DSFWeeklyRewind is a weekly linkup for Twitterites and other bloggers who want to share their week, perhaps with a dash of creativity, and some gratitude. Join us! And invite your friends! Guidelines here (creativity not required, but please list one thing (at least) that you’re grateful for).

So how was my week?

DSFWR VCR TapePeople! I’m back after the long holiday weekend last week. Twas delightful — I didn’t get out of my pajamas or leave the house for four days. Since then, however, I’ve had to wear regular clothes and venture out into the world. Despite that, things have been good. Let’s review.

Picture it: Monday. I visit Dr. Ortho. Well, his physician’s assistant. The x-ray lady was super nice whilst taking my cast off. After my wrist smiled pretty for the pictures, she asked if we should put the cast back on (I had a removable hard cast that I couldn’t remove for 4 weeks, then could, but only to shower). I suggested no, we shouldn’t put it back on since Thumb-y doesn’t like it, my arm skin was irritated from it, and today might be the day he tells me I can leave it off. So the P.A. comes in, says my xrays look good and the cast can stay off. *Happy dance, without waving my naked left arm around too crazily!* I’m in a soft brace at work and while sleeping, but other than that, I can leave it off and use my hand as my body tells me I can as I regain my strength in that extremity. My 6-week Injur-versary was Wednesday. Hand exercises begin during week 8. Woot. There’s a post about the entire experience a-brewing. Stay tuned.

KD_Lang_single_400Picture it: I think I’m psychic. After weeks of having the flower images that come with the computer rotating on my screen, on Wednesday I changed my work laptop background to this photo of k.d. lang. Out of the blue! Then, Thursday, I received an email from her people announcing U.S. tour dates! *Happy dance, again without using my naked left arm too much!* I haven’t seen ms. lang since last century, Valentine’s night 1995, during the All You Can Eat tour (with my extremely-uncomfortable-to-be-around-that-many-lesbians / from Pennsyl-tucky ex-boyfriend). And now, I’ll see her, in the 21st century, this time performing Ingenue in its entirety, along with other songs. I’m counting down until the ticket presale begins. … … …

birthday peepsWhat’s up with the Picture it… you ask? Well, that’s how I started a post on Wednesday, which was the 18th anniversary of the day my dad died, and the phrase has been stuck in my head since. Read For Days Gone By here.

Speaking of bloggy goodness, I also wrote about This Is Us, as I do each week it’s on. Speaking of Picture it…, this week’s episode featured a montage of scenes like moving pictures, i.e. a photograph album come to life. Beautiful. Read more of my review of this week’s episode here.

THEN! As if that wasn’t enough.

Picture it: Late Thursday afternoon. I hear rumbling, then the loose items on the shelf start rattling. What the… is this an earthquake? … … … It WAS an earthquake! We don’t have those in these parts much, but thanks to video — moving pictures, if you will — on TV from others I’ve seen, I knew that’s what was happening. Scary, but so cool! (One can say that when the ground moves and no one is injured / nothing is damaged.)

So now it’s Friday. The weekend is upon us. Perhaps, I’ll do a happy dance (again sans left arm movements). Perhaps it will only be a few more weeks until I can full-fledged Muppet flail. Speaking of the Muppets, since I posted Picture it… on Wednesday, that phrase also morphed into Can You Picture That from The Muppet Movie in my head since. Posted here for your enjoyment.

As usual, too, I’m gratitudinous. For what? That my wrist is healing well. That the cream on the irritation my formerly casted arm is working. That it’s starting to actually feel like winter a bit. That the weekend is mere hours away. I’m going to be doing more nothing this weekend, perhaps in jammies, for two whole days. Relaxation to the max… Can you picture that?

Here’s to a groovy weekend, and a great week next week. Until next time, peace.

I await the day on which you can do a full-fledged Muppet arm flail without hurting yourself. Until then great news that you’re into a soft cast. A jammies weekend sounds wonderful. Enjoy every cozy moment of it.
